(fabricated a relay circuit to shut it off when the ignition is switched on, just to be on the safe side)Īfter 10 days away, the car started on the button, so all seems well now. I can now tell when the network is alive by one of the diags LEDS on the headunits CANBUS adapter.Įnded up replacing the battery in the end due to age, and also fitted a solar trickle charger / conditioner to the rear hat shelf. I now leave my lights on OFF when not in use, as opposed to AUTO (that seemed to keep the CANBUS network alive, draining the battery with a 3amp constant draw.) That way, you can isolate the offending item pretty quickly.
Tried various things, checked wiring that I'd changed or fiddles with.ĭisconnect the battery and pop a meter measuring current draw in series and see whats drawing what current. My battery was original, and 5 years old.
